Autumn 2018, stem cell campaign

After thinking about it, we decided to have an operation to plant Masha's stem cells. Of course, there is no guarantee that this will help us, but we can not use this chance, because science does not stand still. We wrote to several clinics, read scientific papers, asked a lot of questions and decided on the place and the doctor where we want to organize it:
Prof. dr. Erdal Karaoz (Liv Hospital)
https://livhospital.com/en/doctors/erdal-karaoz-md
The procedure includes a two-week stay in the clinic, two transplants of specially grown cells, ten days of rehabilitation, additional services (interpreter, accommodation).
The invoice clinic 21500 euros.

With the help of the clinic's representative office in Romania, the collection was initiated here:

All the money at the end of the collection will be transferred by the Fund to the clinic for the treatment of our daughter.
Thanks  to everyone who will donate a reasonable amount and bring us closer to our goal!

Inventing the seat

Equipment for people with disabilities is usually quite expensive, for example, a new carriage for Masha cost us more than 4000usd, the same chair, verticalizer in 2000. And this equipment lasts for several years, then the child grows up with a new one. Great luck to find a suitable used item. And sometimes what the child needs does not exist in nature at all, or it needs to be strongly processed to achieve the ideal. Therefore, the skillful hands of our grandfathers are used. For example, now we are designing a prototype seat for Masha, in which she can manipulate her own hands in Lotus position. She is very happy when something turns out.

Summer 2018

In summer, the most significant event that happened was that we picked up and bought walkers, in which Masha was able to rearrange her legs. Of course, until walk far, but with incentive, for example, for a ball, she can pass entire room. We also continued to search for therapies, innovative techniques, for example, took part in testing an experimental suit with electrical impulses, but it did not help us much. After long-term studies of stem cell therapy in cerebral palsy, we found a doctor and a clinic in Turkey that performs operations to treat such severe cases of cerebral palsy. This operation may be our last hope for improvement. Now we are at the stage of decision-making and search for funds.

And here is a video with walkers:

Spring 2018

In recent months, Masha has grown significantly and it's time for new things, including rehabilitation equipment. This special orthopedic shoes, orthoses, rehabilitation chair for kindergarten, verticalizer and sanitary chair. Searching, trying, and the solution took two months. Some things because of their impressive cost(the verticalizer, a toilet chair), we successfully bought second-hand and grandfathers them "sawed" under the Masha's needs. Masha continues to visit the kindergarten, where she is praised for her intelligence and cheerful disposition.

Course in Warsaw, winter 2018

A four-week rehabilitation course in Warsaw, the Olinek centre, is coming to an end. The last days Masha is already very tired, so we have reduced the time classes, because overload for a child with cerebral palsy is undesirable. Basically, Masha had daily 2 hours of exercise therapy, an hour of hand therapy and half an hour of speech therapy. She did not cry at all and almost always with great zeal tried to perform the tasks of therapists.

Before, when Mary was little, she couldn't understand why all this when there are plenty of other interesting things than sitting on a cushion in hard braces with fixed hands, but now being older, she realized the difference between himself and the peers, so that there — 6-month babies, which can even more than she did. In her eyes, sadness began to appear more often, and we often need to cheer her up.

We worked on the stability of posture, head control, targeted movements. It is too early to talk about the results, but we note that it has become better with the "eye-hand" connection, the head falls less often in a sitting position and she wants to enter into a dialogue and pronounces different sounds. Communication is something we want to focus on between physical rehabilitation.

I want to add that this course was half paid at the expense of the collected funds! Thank you to everyone who supported us!
